How to Measure Blood Pressure: A Step-by-Step Guide

Tool(s) used: Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition

Format: Asynchronous Video Tutorial

Objective: This tutorial was created as part of an asynchronous module on measuring and assessing vital signs, developed for my capstone project in my graduate program. It is designed for learners aiming to model the ability to measure blood pressure with 100% accuracy. The goal of the tutorial is to provide learners with a step-by-step guide they can use to effectively demonstrate blood pressure measurement on another person.

Learning Goals: By the end of this tutorial, learners will be able to:

  • Accurately demonstrate how to measure blood pressure on another person

  • Apply a structured, step-by-step process for proper technique

  • Recognize key tools and terms related to blood pressure measurement

Highlights:

  • A storyboard was developed before production to organize key concepts and narration

  • Captions were included to ensure accessibility and support engagement for all learners

  • Incorporated Mayer’s Principles of Multimedia Learning:

    • Signaling Principle: Key components (e.g., sphygmomanometer, stethoscope) highlighted with on-screen text

    • Voice Principle: Human narration used to improve comprehension and retention

  • Created using Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Audition to ensure professional visual and audio quality

  • Designed to support mastery of clinical accuracy in a remote or self-paced learning context
